What is a registered agent? A registered agent is a business or individual designated to receive service of process and official mail on behalf of a business. Most state statutes require registered agents to be available during normal business hours to accept official notices and service of process from a legal address and notify the responsible party when accepting these legal documents. A registered agent s duties are to help walk a client though business filings, notify the client when the client s annual reports are due to the state, provide clients with a wide range of business knowledge, offer free tools to help a client file business forms with the state and track their business s status.
